MonaLisa Touch

What is MonaLisa Touch?

MonaLisa Touch is an innovative CO2 laser that can stimulate the vaginal wall to treat the symptoms of vaginal atrophy.* Using carbon dioxide-based technology, the laser stimulates the outer and inner layer of vaginal tissue.* As women age, their collagen and elastin levels begin to deplete, especially when a woman enters menopause. When this occurs, the skin and tissue loses its firmness and hydration, which can be problematic for the more intimate areas of the body. By creating small punctures in the skin, MonaLisa Touch is able to stimulate the tissue using energy, reviving the cells and promoting the production of new elastin and collagen.*

What do collagen and elastin do?

Collagen hydrates the human body and elastin provides our skin with its tightness. Therefore, when the body naturally produces less collagen and elastin, the skin begins to lose its elasticity and hydration, causing it to loosen and dry up. When this happens, most commonly as a result of menopause, genitourinary syndrome of menopause can occur (GSM).

What should you expect from the MonaLisa Touch procedure?

The procedure itself only takes a few minutes. At the beginning of the treatment, a ring will be inserted into the vagina to widen the canal and allow the laser to enter. Once in place, the laser will use energy to stimulate the vaginal wall. At least a few treatments are recommended for optimal results.*

Am I a candidate for MonaLisa Touch?

If you are experiencing the symptoms of genitourinary syndrome of menopause, you may be a candidate for MonaLisa Touch. The symptoms of GSM include:

  • sexual discomfort
  • itching
  • dryness
  • urinary continence
  • burning sensations
  • vaginal irritation
  • vaginal tears

Is the MonaLisa Touch procedure painful?

For the most part, our patients report little-to-no discomfort during the MonaLisa Touch procedure. If anything, they report feeling small vibrations as the laser emits the energy and stimulates the collagen and elastin within the vaginal wall.*
